Description:

ADSS cable is loose tube stranded. Fibers, 250μm, are positioned into a loose tube made of a high

modulus plastic. The tubes are stranded around a FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastics) as a non-metallic

central strength member into a compact and cicular cable core. After the cable is filled with filling compound, it is covered with thin PE (Polyethylene) sheath as inner sheath. After stranded layer of

aramid yarns are applied over the inner sheath as strength member, the cable is completed with

PE or AT (Anti-Tracking) as outer sheath.

Applications:

  • For overhead power line under 110KV, PE outer sheath is applied.
  • For overhead power line equal to or over 110KV, AT outer sheath is applied.
  • The dedicate design od aramid quantity and stranding process can satisfy the demand on various spans.

KT3002 All Dielectric Self-Supporting Aerial Cable (ADSS) with PE or AT Outer Sheath

Description & Standards

The ADSS cable is designed as a loose tube stranded construction. Fibers, 250μm in diameter, are housed in loose tubes made of high-modulus plastic. These tubes are stranded around a Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) central strength member, creating a compact and circular cable core. The core is filled with a filling compound for protection, then covered with a PE (Polyethylene) inner sheath. A layer of aramid yarns is applied over the inner sheath as a strength member, and the cable is finished with a PE or AT (Anti-Tracking) outer sheath.

This cable meets the requirements of IEEE 1222-2004 and IEC 60794-1 standards.

Characteristics

  • Excellent mechanical and temperature performance.
  • High-strength loose tube with hydrolysis resistance.
  • Special filling compound ensures critical fiber protection.
  • Dual FRPs enhance tensile strength.
  • PE sheath offers UV resistance.
  • Lightweight, small diameter, and easy to install.
  • Supports long delivery lengths.

Technical Parameters

The technical parameters for the ADSS cable indicate that it has varying outer diameters of 13.0 mm, 13.6 mm, and 14.5 mm, with respective weights for PE sheaths of 132 kg/km, 145 kg/km, and 164 kg/km, and for AT sheaths of 142 kg/km, 156 kg/km, and 177 kg/km. The maximum allowable working tensile strengths are 6000 N, 10000 N, and 15000 N, with breaking strengths of 15000 N, 24000 N, and 36000 N. Suitable spans for NESC standards range from 230 m to 480 m for span A, and from 150 m to 320 m for span B, depending on the cable specifications.

Optical Fiber Characteristics

For optical fiber characteristics, the single-mode G.652 fiber has an attenuation of ≤0.36 dB/km at 1310 nm and ≤0.22 dB/km at 1550 nm, while the G.655 fiber has an attenuation of ≤0.40 dB/km at 1310 nm and ≤0.23 dB/km at 1550 nm. Multimode 50/125μm fiber exhibits attenuation ≤3.0 dB/km at 850 nm and ≤1.0 dB/km at 1300 nm, with a bandwidth of ≥600 MHz·km at 850 nm and ≥1200 MHz·km at 1300 nm. Multimode 62.5/125μm fiber has attenuation ≤3.0 dB/km at 850 nm and ≤1.0 dB/km at 1300 nm, with a bandwidth of ≥200 MHz·km at 850 nm and ≥600 MHz·km at 1300 nm. Numerical apertures are 0.200±0.015 for 50/125μm fibers and 0.275±0.015 for 62.5/125μm fibers, with cable cut-off wavelengths of ≤1260 nm for G.652 fibers and ≤1450 nm for G.655 fibers.
